History of Karolino-Buhaz

The Tatar village of Bugaz (Boaz) has been known since the 1770s. It was first marked on maps in 1774. It was destroyed during the Russian-Turkish war of 1787-1791. After 1792, the territory of the modern village became part of the land dacha of A. M. Hrybovskyi (7,500 des.), which was bought in 1802 by Count Ignacy Scibor-Marhotsky of Podil. The site of the village of Bugaz was settled again at the beginning of the 1820s by the son of Ignatius – Karol Scybor-Marhotsky, in whose honor it received its second name – Karolin. The village of Karolin was first mentioned in the will of I. Scybor-Marhotsky dated 12/14/1822. From the second half of the 1820s, the farm was owned by Karol’s younger sister, Emilia Countess Scybor-Marhotska (married to Ingistov). From that time until 1918, Karolino (Bugaz), the Ternovyi farm (Ingistova, Medzikhovskogo) and the village of Hrybivka (Andrianivka) belonged to the Ingist family. There is a false version that Karolino-Bugaz is named after Karolina Sobanska, which has no documentary evidence and is the version of writers.

During the Holodomor organized by the Soviet authorities in 1932-1933, at least 2 residents of the village died.
